Ray Bashford is chairman of FTI Consulting’s Strategic Communications segment in Asia which has offices in Hong Kong, Beijing, Mumbai, Shanghai, and Singapore. Globally, the Strategic Communications segment of FTI Consulting is an industry-leading communications consultancy that helps organisations develop, protect and enhance their corporate brand, reputation and enterprise value via diversified offerings in financial communications, corporate communications and public affairs.
Bashford, who specialises in financial and corporate communications, media relations and crisis advisory, has more than 25 years of experience in corporate communications and journalism, 15 years of which are in Asia. Prior to joining FTI Consulting, he spent more than four years as head of group marketing and communications for JP Morgan Asia Pacific where he managed the firm's corporate communications and strategy across 15 countries.
Bashford began his career in Asia as the Business Editor, and later Executive Editor, of The South China Morning Post. In this role, he led the newspaper's coverage of the handover of Hong Kong's sovereignty to China, the emergence of China's financial and economic system, the SARS crisis and the 1997 regional economic crisis. Prior to this role, he was Business News Editor of the Financial Times based in London.
