Edelman taps Citibank's Avila as Pacific Northwest digital lead

Avila is reporting to Will Ludlam, GM of Edelman's Seattle office, where she is based. She has succeeded Molly Sullivan in the role

SEATTLE: Edelman has appointed Gina Avila, previously SVP of Internet and mobile marketing at Citibank, to serve as SVP and group director for digital in the Pacific Northwest.

Avila joined the firm last month. She is reporting to Will Ludlam, GM of Edelman’s Seattle office, where she is based. She has succeeded Molly Sullivan, who relocated to San Francisco, but is still an SVP for digital at Edelman.

One of Avila’s main responsibilities is teaming up with leadership in Seattle and Portland to work on digital strategies for clients in the region. She will also manage digital staffers across the two offices.

Avila was not immediately available for comment.

During her nearly three years at Citi, Avila helped the company adopt digital and mobile platforms, including Citi Mobile Snapshot, which allows customers to view deposit and credit-card balances without logging on to their accounts. Her other responsibilities at the company included managing channel marketing strategy for digital, email, TV, print, and in-branch merchandising.

Before Citi, Avila worked at IMG for three and a half years, serving as VP of business-development services. Avila also previously worked at Saatchi & Saatchi, Visa, and Ogilvy, according to her LinkedIn account.

Edelman also recently promoted Maria Amundson, GM of the firm’s Silicon Valley operations, to serve as global chair of its technology sector, effective September 15.
