Edelman promotes Amundson to global tech chair

Edelman has appointed Maria Amundson, GM of the firm's Silicon Valley operation, to serve as global chair of the technology sector, effective September 15.

NEW YORK: Edelman has appointed Maria Amundson, GM of the firm’s Silicon Valley operations, to serve as global chair of its technology sector, effective September 15.

Amundson, who will oversee a team of 440 staffers across 23 countries, will report to Kym White, global director of sectors and global chair of the agency’s health sector. She will remain based in Edelman’s Silicon Valley office.

In 2006, Amundson joined Edelman when the agency acquired her Bay Area tech firm named A&R Partners. She became GM of Silicon Valley at the end of 2012.

Kristine Boyden, COO for Edelman’s Western region, will take on Amundon’s responsibilities for Silicon Valley while the agency searches for a replacement.

In addition to Amundson’s promotion, Edelman appointed Jonathan Hargreaves, head of the firm’s tech efforts in Europe, to serve as global vice chair of the sector. He will report to Amundson.
