HOUSTON: BMC Software senior PR and analyst relations director Eric DeRitis has assumed oversight of the company’s global communications following the departure of VP Mark Stouse in July.
DeRitis, who joined the IT software management firm in December, continues to report to interim CMO Nick Utton.
Whether DeRitis will replace Stouse in the role on a permanent or temporary basis is to be determined, he told PRWeek. He oversees 10 staffers at BMC and is responsible for the comms and analyst relations functions.
BMC's PR, analyst relations, and social teams were consolidated under Stouse's tenure.*
Prior to joining BMC, DeRitis served as SVP at Weber Shandwick. Before that, he led executive communications for Hewlett-Packard’s technology solutions group, served in corporate PR and executive communications roles at Advanced Micro Devices, and worked as a VP at Eastwick Communications and a director at Weber, according to his LinkedIn profile.
Of his departure, Stouse told PRWeek via email that he had discussed his exit from BMC with the company’s leadership for more than a year before resigning. He tapped DeRitis as his successor last November, he added.
"[DeRitis] is a terrific leader and comms professional, and he will continue to make a big difference there," he said.
Stouse declined to give further details on his new job. However, according to his LinkedIn profile he is the co-founder of a "transformational startup connecting marketing and communications investment to real business impact" as of August.
