CARSON CITY, NV: Nevada’s tourism and cultural affairs department is seeking an agency to raise awareness of the state as a tourist destination.
The budget on the account is $12.6 million over two years. The deadline for firm submissions is August 22.
According to an RFP, the Nevada Commission on Tourism is looking for an integrated marketing AOR to support PR and external communications, strategic planning, media buying, advertising, and digital and mobile initiatives.
Communications tasks will focus on positioning Nevada as a "compelling tourism and cultural destination," the document says. The agency will be responsible for increasing awareness among industry, legislative, and influencer stakeholder groups; improving media relationships and coordinating media tours and events; and promoting the annual Governor’s Conference on Tourism, the RFP states.
Other duties will include communications strategy and planning, consumer and trade media relations, social media, public affairs, educating industry partners, and working with the digital team to improve the online press room.
The contract start date is November 13. The budget for the 2015 fiscal year, which runs from November to June, is worth $5 million. The budget for the 2016 fiscal year, which runs from July to June, is $7.6 million.
Burson-Marsteller’s contract with the Nevada Commission on Tourism expired in July, according to an amendment to the RFP posted last week. A Burson representative was not immediately available for comment.
A representative from the State of Nevada Purchasing Division, which is administering the RFP, declined to say whether Burson is participating in the RFP.
