PURCHASE, NY: PepsiCo has promoted Chris Wyse to the newly created role of SVP of communications for North America amid a spate of major comms personnel moves at the company.
Wyse previously served as VP of communications for PepsiCo America Foods. He is reporting to comms EVP Jon Banner in the new role. Chris Kuechenmeister, who previously served as senior director of Frito-Lay North America, has moved into Wyse’s former position.
Wyse will oversee communications across PepsiCo’s complementary food and beverage brand portfolio in North America. He is working to drive integrated brand communications across its portfolio and communicating with key stakeholders about growth strategy and other company initiatives, said Jeff Dahncke, VP of global communications strategy and planning at PepsiCo. Dahncke, who previously served as senior director of PepsiCo media relations, stepped into his current role at the end of last month.
Wyse joined PepsiCo as VP of public affairs for Frito-Lay in 2010. Prior, he served in various senior comms roles at Whirlpool, which he joined in 1994, according to his LinkedIn profile.
In addition, the company named Krista Pilot as VP of global internal communications. She previously served as PepsiCo’s senior director of strategic communications.
In regards to the personnel moves, Banner told PRWeek via email that "each plays an important role in supporting key business objectives and driving integrated communications programs that engage our stakeholders, build corporate reputation, and drive sales."
Banner, formerly PepsiCo’s SVP of global strategy and planning, was promoted to EVP of comms in May when Jim Wilkinson left the role to work for Alibaba Group as SVP and head of international corporate affairs.
Jay Cooney, Ford Motor Company’s former director of global news and financial communications, joined PepsiCo in March as VP of communications and media. Cecilia Carter, Starbucks’ former VP and global head of community, diversity, policy, and advocacy, joined the food and beverage company in February as VP of HR communications.
Alan Hoffman, PepsiCo’s SVP for global public policy, is departing the company to join Herbalife as EVP of global corporate affairs next month.
