The agency was formed in 2010 after the closure of the resilience comms section of the Central Office of Information, where Wade led the regional teams. It now provides crisis comms consultancy for sensitive government departments and national infrastructure organisations in the UK and overseas.

The EPS is a professional member association for people who work in the resilience and emergency response sector, mainly from local authorities and the NHS. It provides independent advice to government departments and Parliament, among others.

Bob Wade Media will provide media relations and monitoring expertise, as well as advice on social media and marketing opportunities for the organisation.

Part of the brief will be to identify people within the membership who can provide expert opinion to the media, following training, on issues such as nuclear, flooding or aviation emergencies.

The agency will also edit the EPS’ quarterly magazine, Resilience, which is to be relaunched in paper format from September after spending a period of time online.

Wade and his team of professionals, who are drawn from the BBC and the COI, hope to lighten up the content in the magazine as part of the relaunch.

Among Wade’s team are Ian Cameron, a former BBC news editor, and Peter Whitbread, former lead director of emergency planning comms for the COI.

The team will attempt to raise the profile of the EPS as well as build its reputation and membership base from the next generation of emergency planners.

Wade said: "The EPS is continually professionalising its game plan to find the best ways to represent and promote their profession during these times of financial restraint and privatisation within the resilience sector. We will be helping it on this journey on the media front."
