NEW YORK: Mike Paul, The Reputation Doctor, has linked up with a TV agent and law firm with a view to producing a real-life TV show focusing on crisis PR and reputation issues.

The proposed docu-series would comprise 60-minute shows featuring Paul as a fixer who works with high-profile fallen heroes of all types, including A-list celebrities, sports stars, businesspeople, politicians, nonprofits, or rich and powerful individuals. He is working with a production company to shop the format to TV networks, some of which have already run similar shows.

"There hasn’t been a Scandal-type show of any kind since it became a big hit," said Paul. "Scandal is fake – my show would be real and not just about politics and DC. There will be a heavy counseling aspect to the show, a mixture of Dr. Phil and Oprah, with a little bit of Ray Donovan."

To explore TV opportunities Paul has signed with Lawrence Stuart, a TV agent at ICM Partners, as well as law firm Fox Rothschild, led by entertainment division managing partner Darrell Miller and partners Jody Simon and Jeffrey Kravitz.

"Hollywood has reached out to me for more than four years, before Scandal was even an idea, to explore ideas for a TV show and other entertainment ventures," said Paul. "I finally said yes to seriously exploring opportunities. We’ve been pitching networks and got some good feedback already – I expect there to be a bidding war for the show."

Paul will be co-executive producer and hopes to complete the process of signing with a network by the fall, with a view to the show airing sometime in 2015.

ICM Partners' TV department represents on-air and creative talent that have created and packaged hit shows including Scandal, as well as The Blacklist, Grey’s Anatomy, Dancing with the Stars, Modern Family, The Big Bang Theory, Criminal Minds, Undercover Boss, Cougar Town, House, Breaking Bad, Mike & Molly, The Simpsons, and Two and a Half Men.

Fox Rothschild’s Simon is an entertainment law attorney who helps clients produce TV content, negotiating the deals behind many of today’s popular entertainment vehicles.

Scandal is a TV series set in Washington, DC starring Kerry Washington and created by ICM client Shonda Rhimes that debuted on ABC in 2012. Washington's character, Olivia Pope, is partially based on former George H.W. Bush press aide Judy Smith, who is co-executive producer on the show and also runs her own crisis management firm.

The show focuses on Pope's crisis firm, Olivia Pope & Associates, its staff, and staff at the White House. Pope’s mission is to protect and defend the public image of the nation’s elite by keeping their secrets under wraps.

PR and reputation expert Paul is a regular contributor to TV networks including CNN, MSNBC, Fox News, ABC News, NBC News, MSNBC, CBS News, CNBC, BBC, ESPN, and Bloomberg TV.

In 2013, after almost 20 years, Paul sold the assets of his old company MGP & Associates PR to its senior consultants. He then started a crisis PR and reputation management firm and an entertainment production company called Reputation Doctor LLC in 2014.

As well as exploring opportunities in TV, former fashion model and actor Paul is also writing his first book. He previously worked for Burson-Marsteller, Hill & Knowlton, MCI, the US Senate, the New York State Legislature, and the City of New York.
