Wright took the reigns at Merrill Lynch from the well-known Paul Critchlow and reports to CEO Stan O'Neal. The subprime mortgage crunch puts Merrill in the spotlight, as the firm announced it would post a big Q3 loss owing to the related writedowns. He has also served as co-chairman of the board of the Museum for African Art, and is a trustee of The Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art.
