'Made in Taiwan' image drive prompts Tin Man hire

Tin Man Communications has been hired to help with a global push to improve the reputation of Taiwanese goods after winning a five-way pitch.

The agency has been given a project by the Taiwan External Trade Development Council for the UK arm of an international campaign aimed at promoting the design, innovation and quality of the country’s exported products. 

It will lead on comms for a five-day showcase of goods taking place at the Westfield shopping centre in west London this September, named the Taiwan Excellence Showcase. The campaign to raise awareness of the event will target the consumer lifestyle and consumer tech press in particular.

Tin Man founder Mandy Sharp told PRWeek the event was part of "a bigger story around Taiwan and the excellence of its products" in the face of some negative perceptions from consumers. 

"It is important to build on some of those lower perceptions and this event will help bring things to life," she added.

Companies such as Acer, Adata, Asus, Gigabyte, Trend Micro and Genius are expected to feature in the showcase, which is also running in other cities across the world.
