The agency, which has operated a hot-desk office in London since 2006 – latterly in Chelsea Harbour – will move to new premises in the Grid Iron Building at One Pancras Square on 16 June.

Tom Kirkham, who joined Citypress from Blue Rubicon last year, will oversee the new London operation, which will initially employ five staff. This includes new recruit Bethan Davies, who joins from Rain Communications as account director.

Kirkham said the timing was right to increase the agency’s London presence following recent client wins such as the Post Office and Coca-Cola Enterprises.

"With the calibre of wins the agency has had in the past 12-18 months I think there was a sense that the time was right to bolster our presence in London," he said. "We knew that London would be a priority at some stage in our long-term growth strategy and with the recognition the agency has been getting from these major brands, like Coca-Cola, it was a case of why not strike while the iron is hot?"

Kirkham said the new London base would allow the agency to get closer to its existing clients, such as Lloyds Banking Group, as well as targeting new business across a range of sectors, including financial services, retail, third sector and public sector.

Kirkham added that attracting new talent and increasing opportunities for existing staff such as account manager Victoria Holden, who is relocating to the London office from Manchester, was one of the main drivers behind the move.

"Having a bigger and more central hub in London also enables us to tap into the talent market in London, as well as offering opportunities for our consultants across the UK to spend time developing their career here," he said. "That’s something that we weren’t really able to do in the past."

Citypress employs around 60 staff across its five offices, in Manchester, Birmingham, Edinburgh, London and Bristol.
