Stella Zhou, VP of Ruder Finn Asia, told PRWeek that Ruder Finn China has been Audi’s PR retainer agency in China from 1999 to 2010, and has worked for Audi on a number of projects since then.
Audi China organizes the racing series as part of the Audi Sport customer racing Asia program. Launched in China in 2012, the Audi R8 LMS Cup is the first and only brand cup for Audi. Independent PR agency PR Plus has worked on this project previously.
Ruder Finn will be responsible for the development of press releases and supporting materials, creating content for social-networking platforms and on-site media management during the 2014 Audi R8 LMS Cup series, as well as providing support for Audi Sport customer racing Asia entries in other competitions, including the GT Asia Series.
The agency has already finished the race in Yeongam, South Korea, in May. Other races take place in Fuji in Japan, Sepang in Malaysia and Shanghai in China throughout this year.
Martin Kuehl, head of corporate communications, Audi China, commented that the series' driver lineup sets new standards for brand cup racing in Asia, while a "push-to-pass engine boost" is a unique feature for GT3 racing worldwide.
"Our 15-year success in the automotive sector in the region, together with our motor sports experience such as Volkswagen Sirocco Cup, Sports Car Champions Festival, Classic Car Challenge China, as well as the Lamborghini Super Trofeo Series, has given us the knowledge and expertise to achieve the objectives of Audi Sport customer racing Asia," Paul Yang, General Manager of Ruder Finn Beijing, said in a press statement.
In addition to the Audi R8 LMS Cup, Audi Sport customer racing Asia also participates in other motorsport activities including the GT Asia series, the Sepang 12-hour endurance race in Malaysia and the Macau GT, and offers its customers sports-car training and driving experiences, as well as courses to obtain a racing license and access to the race-ready cars.
