Edelman ups Moorthy to Bay Area corporate and public affairs lead

Edelman has promoted EVP Ravi Moorthy to serve as corporate and public affairs group director for the San Francisco Bay Area.

SAN FRANCISCO: Edelman has promoted Ravi Moorthy, EVP and corporate group head for the San Francisco Bay Area, to serve as the region’s corporate and public affairs group director, a newly created position.

In his expanded role, which he started earlier this month, Moorthy oversees more than 30 staffers on the corporate and public affairs teams based in San Mateo and San Francisco, California.

He reports to interim San Francisco GM Kristine Boyden, who will become COO of Edelman’s Western region on July 1.

"The position was created to reflect Edelman’s go-to market strategy in the Bay Area, leveraging our talent in San Francisco and San Mateo," Moorthy explained.

Moorthy returned to Edelman last year as corporate group head. Prior to that, he served as EVP and global client lead for WPP Team Dell, supporting the computer technology company’s communications team. He was also associate director of corporate reputation at Mubadala Development Company in Abu Dhabi. Moorthy previously worked at Edelman from 1997 to 2009.

"I am excited to be in this new role and build on the momentum we’ve achieved over the past fiscal year," said Moorthy.

Earlier this month, Edelman named Wayne Hickey GM of San Francisco, effective July 1. In February, the firm appointed Steve Kerns as SVP in the Silicon Valley office.
