Edelman Ireland promotes Joe Carmody to top job amid "tough market conditions"

Edelman has made Joe Carmody head of its Ireland office after the exit of MD Mark Cahalane and deputy MD Geraldine O'Neill earlier this year.

The promotion of Carmody, who previously headed the corporate and financial team, comes after a restructure that Edelman described as a move to ‘right-size’ the agency following 'tough market conditions' and the agency now reports into Edelman UK.

"Edelman has decided to align its Dublin office more closely with its UK business," said Edelman UK general manager Alex Bigg.

"The alignment will allow us work in partnership with our UK colleagues to explore growth opportunities in specialist areas. Dublin is and will remain an important centre of operations for Edelman and Edelman is fully committed to operating and growing its operations in the Irish market."

The Dublin office currently employs around 20 people, with clients including Ryanair and Musgrave.
