NEW YORK: Alice Diaz is taking over as president of Weber Shandwick’s travel and lifestyle practice as 18-year agency veteran Rene Mack steps down from the role to pursue personal and entrepreneurial projects.
The leadership change will take place at the end of the month. Mack, who founded the travel and lifestyle practice almost two decades ago, will continue to be available to the firm as a consultant.
Diaz will report to Joy Farber Kolo, EVP and GM of the firm’s New York office.
Diaz joined Weber in 2000. Her current role, held since 2009, is EVP of the firm’s travel and lifestyle practice. Prior, Diaz was VP and management supervisor, according to her LinkedIn profile, as well as a VP at M. Silver Associates.
"[Mack] is a force in the travel and tourism industry, and he has been a force for Weber Shandwick – a passionate authority on destination, hospitality, and transportation marketing, a strong leader, and a great colleague," said Gail Heimann, Weber’s president, via email.
Weber representatives declined to comment further.
As a whole, Weber saw revenue growth of about 10% in 2013, compared with the year before, though it did not break out specific numbers.
