The role includes responsibility for the global external and internal communications of the private equity-owned group, which makes well-known UK brands Jaffa Cakes and McVities biscuits and also has a growing international business.

Salt, who PRWeek revealed in February was leaving FTSE 250 construction firm Balfour Beatty, will report to United Biscuits CEO Martin Glenn.

Glenn praised Salt's experience of stakeholder engagement, corporate reputation and issues management,  and said communications would play a core role in the business’s growth strategy.

Salt headed up communications at logistics firm CEVA prior to her two years at Balfour Beatty.

United Biscuits has worked with 3 Monkeys for its corporate and consumer PR since hiring the agency last December
