Jackson Spalding experienced a 7.3% bump in revenue in 2013, up to just more than $12.6 million.

Top-line revenue was bolstered by account wins from Toyota Southeast and MLB’s Atlanta Braves. The firm was also tapped as Mattress Firm’s PR and social media AOR this past March and continues to represent restaurant chain Chick-fil-A as its national PR firm.

Other key pickups included Tvsdesign, Parker Executive Search, Ballistic Case Co., and Berry College.

Last year, the firm also became AOR for Primrose Schools’ franchising effort, in addition to the work Jackson Spalding was already doing for the client.

The agency’s profit margin slipped from 17% in 2012 to 13.5% in 2013.

Staying humble
Moreover, organic growth accounted for much of the agency’s increase in revenue.

"We want to stay humble and hungry," says cofounder and CEO Glen Jackson, who is optimistic about where the firm is headed. He adds that, as any agency grows, it is important to maintain its culture and protect what got it there in the first place.

The firm’s digital services offering, as well as its sports practice, continued to grow. One highlight in the past year was the work the firm did surrounding the Braves’ announcement of its move to Cobb County in 2017.

In the past year and a half, the firm worked on two stadium projects, including one for the NFL’s Atlanta Falcons. The firm lost the account for Georgia Club, a golf community, last year.

The full-service agency, which has offices in Athens, Atlanta, and Dallas, has been able to solicit "the best talent out there," according to Jackson. The firm’s Georgia office has formed relationships with schools including The University of Georgia, Auburn University, Georgia State University, and Emory University.

"We really stay true to our values here," he adds. "That’s our anchor."

The firm brought on Rita Izaguirre as HR director last year. No senior-level exits were reported.Last year, the agency was also one of the founding partners of Elevate U, a development summit to help nonprofits elevate their impact, leadership, and fundraising efforts.
