NEW YORK: Gemma Craven, who previously served as EVP and New York group director of Social@Ogilvy, has joined social marketing company Spredfast as executive director of strategic markets.
Craven, who began working at Spredfast on Monday, is reporting to Virginia Miracle, chief customer officer.
In the newly created position, Craven is responsible for leading Spredfast’s team of market directors in the US. The group, which includes four staffers in New York, Minneapolis, San Francisco, and Washington, DC, is a consultant-like layer that "focuses on bringing continued added value to our customers and prospects," explained Craven.
She said the agency wants to add more market directors in other major metropolitan areas across the country this year.
Craven added that she has worked on digital and social media on the agency side and with many of the world’s largest brands. This role allows her to "complete the whole experience" by focusing on the software and technology elements of the business, she said.
"I built up a team within an agency that really was focused on growing business, adding value, and connecting within a large matrix, so I certainly understand navigating infrastructures around brands, agencies, and partners," she explained.
In addition to building her team, Craven said she wants to work on thought leadership for the agency and highlight the staffers’ expertise.
Most recently, Craven served as executive director and head of social customer engagement at OgilvyOne Worldwide for the last year. Before that, she worked at Social@Ogilvy for nearly three and a half years, serving as EVP and New York group director.
She also previously worked at Breakaway Communications and Midnight Communications.
