The fourth annual Diversity Distinction in PR Awards, sponsored by the Council of Public Relations Firms in association with PRWeek, are now accepting entries.
Since 2011, this program has honored excellence in promoting ethnic diversity within the PR sector. It rewards individuals and organizations leading the charge in facilitating the recruitment, retention, and promotion of diverse PR professionals at all levels.
To encourage increased participation by entities of all types and sizes, the award categories have been updated this year to include Best PR Firm Diversity Initiative; Best Community Initiative; Best In-House Diversity Initiative, and Diversity Champion. The former two categories will recognize two winners – agencies with $25 million or more in annual revenue and firms with less than $25 million in revenue per year.
"The PR industry has made progress on the diversity front, but more must be done," said Steve Barrett, editor-in-chief of PRWeek. "We are proud to once again work with the Council of PR Firms on this awards program, as it not only honors those leading the charge, but is a platform to raise awareness of this vital issue."
"The ongoing transformation of the PR business must include the diversification of our workforce," adds Council of PR Firms president Kathy Cripps. "More diversity among our people will make this industry stronger and more competitive. We are pleased to join forces with PRWeek on these awards for the fourth time."
Deadline for submissions is Thursday, June 19 at 2 pm. An esteemed panel will judge the entries on July 31 at PRWeek’s offices in New York. Winners will be honored at the Council of PR Firms’ annual dinner on Wednesday, October 22, in New York.
