NEW YORK: GolinHarris has appointed former Edelman SVP Gaston Terrones Dimant as executive director and corporate practice leader in New York, effective April 14.
Some of Terrones Dimant’s tasks include advising corporate clients and growing business in the market, particularly in the financial services arena. He will report to Tony Telloni, MD of GolinHarris New York, and Scott Farrell, president of the global corporate communications practice.
Terrones Dimant will join Golin’s catalyst community, the agency’s specialist team that helps create collaboration among all of the groups within the G4 model, including strategists, creators, connectors, and catalysts. The catalysts also help drive integration for client initiatives.
Gregory Papajohn previously held the lead corporate role since June 2010, but left the firm earlier this year. He joined SparkPR last month as MD for financial technology and social innovation. On an interim basis, Telloni replaced Papajohn. Telloni will continue in his prior role as MD of the firm's New York office, reporting to Gary Rudnick, president of the Americas.
"[Terrones Dimant’s] role is going to be to tend to the great stable of clients we have in New York right now, but he is also an important player in our growth strategy for the global communications team, particularly in New York," said Farrell.
He added that the financial services sector is one of the faster growing areas of Golin’s corporate practice, but "there is still a lot of room to grow there, and [Terrones Dimant’s] deep experience in that space will be helpful."
Terrones Dimant explained that his objective is to build the firm’s New York corporate practice into a center of excellence for clients and the firm.
"[I will] play a key role in deepening the firm's footprint in financial services, while leveraging New York as a launch pad for businesses globally," he said. "In doing so, [I will] focus on deepening the G4 model, and working in a very integrated fashion with the firm globally."
He joins GolinHarris from Edelman, where he most recently served as SVP of corporate communications since early 2012. Before that, he held a number of roles at Edelman since 2005, including senior account executive, senior account supervisor, and director of the corporate and financial practice.
A representative from Edelman was not immediately available to comment on Terrones Dimant’s replacement.
Terrones Dimant also previously worked at Burson-Marsteller in Argentina.
