Miller joins next month as media manager, looking after PR for the retail giant’s food offer. She has worked at the London Mayor’s office for the past 13 years, where she was most recently a senior press officer.
Stepping in for Lucy Lowe, who is on maternity leave and is expected to return to a new role at the retailer, she will work within the corporate team.
Tom Hoskin, group media director at Tesco, explained that food was one of four key areas of focus specifically overseen by the media team, alongside ‘multi-channel leadership’, ‘Tesco and society’ and ‘people’, which focuses on Tesco as an employer.
Pointing to the relaunch of the Tesco Finest brand last autumn as an example, he added: "She will cover PR on everything to do with food, from where it is sourced to the way we present the brands that we have. We chose Rebecca because she is exceptionally talented with a real passion for the work and lots of ideas."
The Mayor’s Office confirmed Miller’s departure, adding that it had recruited internally to fill a vacant senior press officer role.
Last month PRWeek revealed that Tesco was looking to introduce a new high-level planner role as part of a move to build "a properly functioning comms global network."
