FOLSOM, CA: The California Walnut Board and Commission is conducting an RFP for its PR business.
Jennifer Olmstead, domestic marketing director for the organization, said the Walnut Board reviews its PR agencies every three years.
While the commission is always looking for "fresh ideas," the board "may or may not be switching agencies depending on the outcome of the RFP," she said. The organization also held a review for its domestic PR work in 2010.
The Walnut Board is working with San Francisco-based Torme Lauricella Public Relations. Representatives from the firm were not immediately available for comment.
Olmstead added that the PR agency does some social media work for the organization, but social is mainly handled by the organization's advertising shop, Evans Hardy+Young.
The Walnut Board expects to make a decision on the RFP in the next two months, she said.
Further information on the review was not disclosed.
The California Walnut Board and California Walnut Commission represents more than 4,000 walnut growers and more than 100 handlers in the state, according to the organization's website.
In addition to funding walnut production and post-harvest research, the board promotes the nutritional benefits of walnuts through educational programs, the board's LinkedIn profile states.
