LOS ANGELES: Hill+Knowlton Strategies has named Tali Mackay as head of the firm's US healthcare practice.
She was promoted from SVP of H+K's Los Angeles office, where she started work for the firm in 2012.
Mackay has experience in corporate thought leadership, branding, product launches, digital content marketing, influencer strategies, mergers and acquisitions, and crisis communications.
She is taking over the role from David Bowen, H+K's global head of healthcare, who joined the firm last summer and became interim head of the US healthcare practice in the fall. Susan Thiele, then head of H+K Strategies' US and New York healthcare practices, stepped down from the US role to take on expanded responsibilities in New York. Bowen will return to focusing on leading the global practice.
“What I look to bring to this role is to look at the operational side, processes, and the kind of building blocks of what makes a good practice day-to-day,” said Mackay. “I'm very excited about talent development because I'm a big believer in working with staff – maybe just out of college – and helping develop their skills and broadening their horizons.”
Mackay added that she's excited to offer to clients a “surround sound offering.”
Mackay began her communications career in Genentech's regulatory affairs department. She later joined Baxter BioScience in regulatory affairs and was appointed VP of global communications, responsible for the rebranding of Baxter BioScience, as well as oversight of all external and internal communications.
Previously, Mackay was a registered nurse, with clinical experience in neurosurgery and neurology, general medicine, and hospice.
