Athenahealth picks ReviveHealth as trade AOR

Athenahealth has selected ReviveHealth as AOR for all of its healthcare trade media activities.

WATERTOWN, MA: Athenahealth has selected ReviveHealth as AOR for all of its healthcare trade media activities.

Holly Spring, director of communications at athenahealth, said the agency showed “a combination of deep healthcare expertise combined with a really strong and dynamic team that aligned with the athenahealth culture.”

“They did a lot of homework on our company well beyond just the services we provide to our clients,” she said. “They got to know our mission and vision and came to us with really smart, tailored recommendations for our company.”

The contract is set to run for one year, though several programs are expected to extend beyond that timeframe, said Brandon Edwards, founder and CEO of ReviveHealth. Representatives from both the agency and the healthcare technology company did not say how much the account is worth.

Edwards said the process moved quickly, with athenahealth entertaining about 10 proposals and selecting the firm in less than 45 days. He added that this is an opportunity for ReviveHealth to help the company grow, both with the presence it has established and in growing markets.

“As a healthcare-only firm, we have some very deep relationships with media, with trade organizations, prospective customers, and existing clients,” Edwards said, adding that he believes there is a fit between the two companies in terms of their brands and cultures.

Spring added that a priority for the agency's work is “advancing the story that we're trying to tell about enabling connectivity in healthcare.”

“It's a very complex industry and marketplace, and we're looking to stand out in many ways by simplifying our messages and working with them to get our story out there and create a new kind of narrative,” she said.

Early last year, athenahealth acquired Epocrates for about $293 million. Epocrates makes healthcare apps that are used by doctors. Athenahealth provides various cloud-based services for electronic health records, practice management, and care coordination.

In 2013, ReviveHealth grew to 25 professionals on staff, focusing on hires within health IT and health services, and it expanded its Nashville, TN, headquarters. The firm's revenue grew 5% in 2012, compared with the year before, according to PRWeek's Agency Business Report.
