National Pawnbrokers Association hires James Watkins in public affairs role

A trade body for the pawnbroking industry has brought in James Watkins, formerly a policy adviser to Oxfordshire County Council, in the new role of public affairs manager.

Watkins’ brief is to develop positive awareness campaigns about the NPA and educate and build relationships with the Government and MPs, local authorities, consumer advice bodies and consumer groups.

He will join the body on Monday 17 March.

NPA chief executive Ray Perry said the appointment was "a great step forward for the NPA in raising awareness of how modern pawnbroking works".

"The industry is having a positive impact on the UK economy and we want to make sure people understand this as well as how it works," he added.
