Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer introduced the much hyped latest version of the Windows smartphone, along with other products such as the upcoming Windows 8 operating system, during his Monday night keynote at the International Consumer Electronics Show. It will be Microsoft's final keynote at the show.

The presentation included numerous surprises, such as the appearance of Ryan Seacrest, and an entertaining, lighthearted performance by the “Tweet Choir,” which sang gospel-style tweets from Microsoft's stream.

Microsoft joined the likes of Apple and Google when it said last month that it will no longer deliver a keynote or maintain a booth at CES after this year, contending that the show's timeframe does not fit with the company's product launch schedule.

While introducing Ballmer, Consumer Electronics Association CEO Gary Shapiro commented about seeing Microsoft back in the keynote spot at future CES shows. It will be interesting to see if Microsoft eventually returns to CES or is out for good.
