NEW YORK: Hill+Knowlton Strategies has hired former Weber Shandwick VP Sergio Morales to serve as SVP and head of its New York consumer marketing practice.
Morales reports to Ian Bailey, EVP and GM of the agency's New York office. Bailey also previously worked at Weber, serving as EVP and MD at the firm for nearly three and a half years.
“Having worked with Sergio previously, he was at the top of my list of people I wanted to have join me on Hill+Knowlton Strategies' New York team to help build on the office's strong foundations and re-establish our leadership position in New York,” Bailey said.
Earlier this month, Jody Venturoni, former Weber Shandwick Southwest president, joined H+K to serve as EVP. She is based in Dallas and reports to Dan Bartlett, the agency's US president and CEO.
Bailey added that the firm will continue to build its team and seek “dynamic, creative, and highly collaborative individuals.”
H+K hired Morales in September 2011 to consult for various divisions, such as consumer, technology, and corporate. A month later, the agency appointed him head of the consumer practice, replacing Ben Trounson. Twelve staffers report to Morales.
His primary responsibilities include serving the agency's clients, helping them form strategic alliances, and building the consumer team in H+K's New York office. He said a goal is to see the agency “emerge as an industry powerhouse in the consumer field.”
Morales worked on various practices while at Weber, including CSR, corporate, and consumer, and he counseled clients including Samsung, Amway, and DreamWorks.
Recently, H+K formed an “official partnership” with PGA of America to help the organization build an integrated communications program focused on engaging golf stakeholders and consumers, Morales said. The PGA business was won after an RFP process, he added.
