NEW YORK: Cohn & Wolfe has promoted Liz Beck to leader of its US consumer practice. She previously served as the agency's EVP and New York consumer practice leader.
Beck, who has worked at the firm for 12 years, will report to CEO Donna Imperato until the agency hires a New York office leader. Mark Cater, former president of the New York office, joined MHP Communications as MD earlier this month. Michael Bayer, deputy MD of the office, is acting as interim president.
The last US consumer practice head at the agency was John Hollywood, current EVP and US strategy officer, who served in that role from October 2009 to November 2010.
Working with a consumer team of 100 US staffers, Beck said she will focus on “developing best practices across everything from programming to new business and also helping to drive creative strategies for key clients.”
“We're seeing that clients and brands are really eager to try new things as social media and traditional media blend,” she said. “Clients are open to new ways to drive return on investment, and we're seeing a lot of desire to drive more earned media.”
Prior to joining Cohn & Wolfe, Beck spent 15 years at Weber Shandwick (formerly Dorf & Stanton Communications and Shandwick). She was EVP for 10 of those years.
Cohn & Wolfe has made several executive hires in recent months, including Olga Fleming, EVP and managing director of its New York healthcare practice. The firm also hired Kristin Sadlon and Russ Williams, SVPs of corporate and crisis/issues management, respectively, in October 2011.
