TALLAHASSEE, FL: Visit Florida has hired Ketchum as its PR AOR. Ketchum previously worked with the state tourism organization after the BP oil spill affected the Gulf Coast in 2010.
Visit Florida made its decision last month after a process that began in August. The one-year contract has a budget of $100,000 to $150,000, which may be increased depending on performance.
“They won a very competitive bid process, and we were impressed with them and are looking forward to working with them on other issues besides crisis communications,” said Will Seccombe, CMO of Visit Florida.
The new contract includes some crisis communications consultation, but the bulk of the work requires Ketchum to develop tourism campaigns for Visit Florida.
The state will also celebrate the 500th anniversary of its discovery next year. “This anniversary presents a significant PR opportunity, and it is anticipated that the [AOR] will be involved in planning for this event,” the invitation to negotiate said.
Ketchum's work could also include highly targeted media pitching, guerilla campaigns, and satellite media tours.
