WASHINGTON: The United Nations Foundation has appointed Weber Shandwick to develop the global communications strategy for the Sustainable Energy for All program. The initiative seeks to secure private-sector and national commitments to sustainable energy and to attract global attention to the role of energy in development and poverty alleviation.

The agency won the account after a competitive pitch process, it said in a statement.

Weber will work with the UN Foundation to build a global communications program for the initiative, providing strategic counsel, creative support, and media relations services for the organization. The agency's Washington-based social impact team will lead the global account.

The UN Foundation promoted Aaron Sherinian to VP of communications and PR last July.
