The Republican queen of off-the-wall sound bites came up with a new one this weekend as she threw her support behind presidential candidate Newt Gingrich. Former Alaskan Gov. and one-time vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin suggested that Republicans should consider Gingrich the anti-establishment candidate while being interviewed on Fox News:
You gotta rage against the machine at this point to defend our Republic... shake up the establishment.. vote for Newt. Annoy a liberal. Vote Newt.
Palin is the latest in a string of dubious endorsements for Gingrich that seem to seek to counter strong criticism of the candidate from fellow Republicans such as Bob Dole, as the contest moves to Florida on Tuesday, January 31. The campaign also unveiled an endorsement from Herman Cain who dropped his presidential bid last year after a string of sexual harassment accusations surfaced. I wonder how the latter will play with Republican women who might already be leery of his multiple marriages?
