AUSTIN, TX: PR and marketing consulting firm Jones-Dilworth has launched Totem, a Web app that helps boutique agencies, start-ups, and SMBs build press pages.
The company created the software after realizing that many companies in the space have poor press pages or none at all, said Josh Jones-Dilworth, agency CEO.
“We always found this confounding because the press, analysts, and influencers are often your most important audience and have a great amount of power,” he said.
The goal of Totem is to make press pages a more efficient vehicle to convey important information to members of the media.
“The main audience here really is the press,” Jones-Dilworth added. “The thing that will make us succeed is if we make the press very happy and those totem pages are full of useful, actual info in the right place, in the right context. That's the goal.”
Totem press pages will include contacts, company information, recent press releases and coverage, links to social feeds and channels, and photo and video content, said John Robert Reed, product manager at Jones-Dilworth.
“It allows [agencies] to add another element to their services menu and then be more strategic and free up hours for people to work on actually getting more coverage,” Jones-Dilworth explained.
Prior to building the software, the team at Jones-Dilworth surveyed members of the media to find out what types of information would be most helpful and suitable on a press page.
Totem is available both as a free app and a $99 version that allows for more customization and includes other features.
