SAN FRANCISCO: LaunchSquad has created a standalone agency, known as Original9 Media, to focus on content creation.
Based in San Francisco, Original9 has launched with a staff of three editorial professionals, one businesses-development marketing leader, and a broad network of freelancers, including developers and designers who will create and distribute content. The group of freelancers will also provide consulting for mid-size and large companies to grow their businesses through content-focused initiatives.
Although LaunchSquad primarily works with start-ups, it plans for Original9 to collaborate with companies and brands of all sizes that need assistance with content creation, distribution, and execution.
Jeffrey Davis, SVP and editorial director at LaunchSquad since 2010, will lead the unit. It plans to make a number of hires in the coming months and tap into LaunchSquad's 60-plus member staff of communications, creative, writing, strategy, and video staff when necessary. The group will also offer platform and site-development services, as well.
“All of these things are applied as needed based on the relevancy, industry, and audience,” said Jesse Odell, partner at LaunchSquad.
He added that Original9's mission is to provide high-quality content while focusing on matching content to its correlating platform, audience, and distribution channel. It will focus on content-creation for b-to-b companies in verticals including energy, insurance, healthcare, and financial and professional services.
“At the highest level, the science is really about what are the right channels and right ways to get those connections to happen as fast as possible, be shared as much as possible, and happen for as long of a time period as possible to grow the business,” said Odell, describing the unit's goals.
