WASHINGTON: Industry group The Financial Services Roundtable has promoted Elise Brooks to director of communications.
Brooks worked her way up at the organization from project manager to communications manager and then to her current position. She served as an intern at the group in 2007 before joining full-time in June 2008. Brooks said the Roundtable has no plans to fill her former role.
She noted that she has worked to help the organization's members as they struggled with reputation issues after the financial crisis in 2008.
“I think there was a lot of pain with the crisis. People had a lot of anger toward financial services,” Brooks said. The organization is now working to inform consumers of the benefits its companies provide by highlighting such things as financial literacy programs and retirement information.
In coming years, the organization will focus on the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act to make sure it's implemented properly and fairly, Brooks said.
The Private Equity Growth Capital Council also launched a campaign earlier this year defending its industry from political attacks lobbed at Republican presidential frontrunner Mitt Romney.
