PRWeek to sponsor Cannes PR Lions

PRWeek and its German sister title PR Report are for the first time sponsoring the PR category of the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity.

Cannes introduced the PR Lions in 2009 in response to the growing power of the industry. As sponsors, PRWeek and PR Report are recognizing the role Cannes Lions and the Festival play in promoting a strong, global PR industry that is fueled by creativity.

"Public relations is a global business and its influence and relevance is growing rapidly around the world," said Julia Hood, EVP of PRWeek US. "PRWeek is pleased to join Cannes Lions in honoring the creative and strategic work that is driving PR's increasing power in every market."

The Cannes Lions will be held at The Palais des Festivals in Cannes, France from 17-23 June. The winners of the PR Lions will be unveiled on the evening of Monday, June 18. This year's chair of PR judges is Gail Heimann, global vice-chair of Weber Shandwick.

Other judges on the PR Lions panel include Jody Venturoni, EVP US at Hill+Knowlton Strategies; Marian Salzman, CEO North America of Euro RSCG Worldwide PR; Matt Neale, president, international at GolinHarris; and Joe Sinclair, UK creative director at Burson-Marsteller.

PRWeek is published online and in print in the UK and the US, and its sister publication is PR Report in Germany. Editors of each edition will be on hand in Cannes to take part in all aspects of the Festival, and coverage will run on each of the regional Web sites.
