KANSAS CITY, MO: Advertising agency Barkley has spun off its PR practice, previously known as Barkley PR/Cause, into a standalone unit called Crossroads.
The firm has offered PR services since 1987. At launch, the agency has 17 staff members, 10 clients, and approximately $4.5 million in revenue, said Mike Swenson, president of Crossroads. Clients include the Susan G. Komen 3-Day, Sonic, Weight Watchers, and March of Dimes.
“Now is a great time to show what we've learned over the last 24 years,” Swenson said. “It's very exciting. I've had the privilege of growing this unit since 1987.”
Over the last seven years, the PR unit has honed its ability to offer integrated services to clients, including both PR and digital components, he added.
Crossroads will operate from a designated office space at Barkley's Kansas City, MO, headquarters. It will focus on national clients but redouble its focus on building relationships in the Midwest, said Swenson. He added that the firm will offer consulting on internal and overall strategic communications, but its primary focuses will be cause marketing and crisis communications.
