FTI strategic comms revenue down 2.9% in Q1

WEST PALM BEACH, FL: FTI Consulting's strategic communications unit reported a revenue drop of 2.9% year-over-year to $45 million in the first quarter.

WEST PALM BEACH, FL: FTI Consulting's strategic communications unit reported a revenue drop of 2.9% year-over-year to $45 million in the first quarter of 2012.

The strategic communications group also saw $2.6 million in operating income in the quarter.

Yet the company's overall revenue increased 9.2% to $395.2 million in the quarter, compared with Q1 2011. FTI earned $18.4 million in net income in the period.

Jack Dunn, the company's president and CEO, said in an earnings statement that FTI is “extremely well-positioned in terms of intellectual capital, domain expertise, balance sheet strength, and geographic footprint.”

In February, FTI appointed Simon Dibb MD of its strategic communications practice in its Brussels, Belgium, office. It also named Oliver Pawle non-executive global chairman of its strategic communications group last month.  

FTI's strategic communications group also reported a slight year-over-year revenue drop in the fourth quarter of last year.
