HERNDON, VA: Joseph Jacuzzi, who joined Ford Motor Company's communications team less than three months ago, was named CCO for Audi of America on Friday.
Jacuzzi will start work at Audi at the end of this month, reporting to Johan de Nysschen, president of Audi of America. Jacuzzi will succeed Jeff Kuhlman, who left Audi in December to join Nissan Motor Company in Japan as head of communications.
His primary responsibilities will include media relations and VIP and dealer communications.
Jacuzzi called it a “dream job with fantastic brands, phenomenal leadership, and phenomenal products.”
Prior to his short stint at Ford, where he served as communications manager for the Lincoln brand, Jacuzzi was VP of product and brand communications for PepsiCo Americas Beverages for two and a half years.
Jacuzzi has also worked as executive director for Latin America, Africa, and Middle East communications at General Motors, as well as executive director of European product and brand communications at the company. He was also director of communications for the UK at GM and VP of marketing, product planning, and communications at Shelby Automobiles.
In November, Audi retained its incumbent agency of the last four years, PMK-BNC, as its US AOR after a review. The agency is focusing on traditional PR efforts and media outreach for the automobile brand, as well as content generation.
Tony Cervone, EVP of group communications for Audi owner Volkswagen Group of America, said Jacuzzi's automotive industry, international, and consumer experience give him a “fantastic background.”
“The challenge is we need to continue to rival some of the premium makes that have been here a lot longer, and [Jacuzzi] has so much experience in helping drive continued awareness and proper brand positioning,” he said.
