LexisNexis picks C&W for risk unit awareness

ATLANTA: LexisNexis Risk Solutions has hired Cohn & Wolfe for PR support after a competitive review.

The agency is working to raise awareness for LexisNexis' risk mitigation and fraud prevention unit through thought leadership and content development, as well as media and analyst relations.

C&W began working with LexisNexis on May 1. Stephen Brown, EVP at the firm, is leading the account with support from six staffers from its Atlanta, New York, and Austin, TX, offices.

The communications work is b-to-b focused, with the goal of making companies aware of LexisNexis Risk Solutions' tools that can help to prevent fraud.

“Many people know LexisNexis from other fields, such as legal, and we want to make sure people understand what LexisNexis does for mitigating risk and preventing fraud in organizations,” Brown said.

The content-development work will include bylined articles, white papers, social media advisements, and support. Brown said C&W wants to tell the company's story in human terms that people can relate to.

“We are taking a look at a lot of the different business units across the board at LexisNexis Risk Solutions and helping to tell a cohesive larger story about how finding these different elements of fraud and helping to mitigate risk can help in a larger way,” he said.

LexisNexis Risk Solutions also works with Washington-based ConnellyWorks, a firm that specializes in PR for the public sector and law enforcement.

Megan Mahoney, senior director of marketing at LexisNexis, confirmed that the company hired C&W, but declined to provide further details on the search process or the terms of the account.
