SANTA ANA, CA: Atomic PR has opened an office in Orange County, CA.
The Huntsworth firm launched the office to support three accounts, including Sony. VP and MD Krys Card Grondorf, who joined Atomic in March from Citizen Paine, is leading operations in Orange County.
Grondorf plans to hire staffers as the office becomes more established. Employees from the agency's nearby Los Angeles office will help as needed.
In addition to leading key accounts, Grondorf is also recruiting talent and working to attract new business.
“Orange County is its own ecosystem in many ways, and it offers us the opportunity to tap into talent who wouldn't necessarily want to commute into LA,” said Grondorf.
Atomic also opened the Orange County office to tap into the region's vibrant consumer and technology communities. The firm also has offices in San Francisco, Los Angeles, New York, London, and Munich. Atomic earned $16.1 million in global revenue in 2011, with $15 million of that in the US.
“We feel like there are a group of accounts and people that we wouldn't as easily access out of Los Angeles or San Francisco, so it seemed like a very logical next step,” said Andy Getsey, co-founder and CEO of Atomic.
Grondorf added that before opening the office, the firm received a number of inquiries from Orange County companies that prefer to work with a local firm.
“We have roots here, and we bring sophisticated, analytics-based strategy that drives a lot of our creative and campaigns for clients, and I think it's something that just doesn't exist in Orange County,” said Gorndorf. “So we're looking to do something new and offer the brands that exist here something new and different.”
