NEW YORK: Fleishman-Hillard has named Christopher Tennyson, an SVP and senior partner at the firm, head of its New York corporate and public affairs group. It also hired Chris Nelson as a New York-based SVP.
Tennyson assumed the role last week, taking over for Ron Guirguis, who left the firm.
Tennyson said he hopes to continue the momentum of the group's work and increase its focus on crisis communications.
The agency also named Nelson SVP in the New York corporate and public affairs group. He previously served as SVP and director for North American issues and crisis management at Ketchum and manager for client services at Burson-Marsteller. He has also worked as managing editor for communications and public affairs at Ohio State University.
“He has an interest in company preparedness and dealing with crises before the storm hits,” Tennyson said. “As more high-profile crisis cases are reported in the media, companies are speaking with their boards and asking if they're prepared and if this could happen to them. So there is more demand to be prepared in the event of a crisis.”
Tennyson said he also hopes to bolster the public affairs services in Fleishman's New York office.
”We're good, but I think we can get better,” he said.
