MUNICH, GERMANY: Waggener Edstrom Worldwide has purchased Patzer PR, a Munich-based healthcare agency that specializes in over-the-counter pharmaceuticals.
WE acquired the firm to strengthen its healthcare expertise in Germany and throughout Europe. Patzer PR will retain its brand name. The firms declined to disclose the purchase price.
The eponymous agency's managing partner, Michael Patzer, will stay on, as will his employees. Patzer PR clients, such as Medice, Astellas, and Gilead, are also expected to stay with the firm.
Five-year-old Patzer specializes in marketing, scientific and political communications, and media relations.
“Waggener Edstrom's heritage of using integrated communications to create impact brings extended capabilities to our already-established healthcare efforts,” Patzer said. “We see great possibilities in joining forces to seize the opportunities within the healthcare community here in Germany and beyond as a part of a broader network.”
“Germany is a center of innovation for the healthcare market, and the industry is projected for continued growth and expansion,” said Melissa Waggener Zorkin, CEO of WE, said in a statement.
In March, WE invested in Shout Communications Korea, a technology and consumer-focused integrated marketing and communications agency.
