NEW YORK: MSLGroup New York has appointed Stephen Millikin, the former director of special events at Bard College, SVP and director of fashion and luxury at its Be Spoke specialty unit.
Millikin will report to Carson Gray Elias, SVP and director of the beauty and luxury unit, and lead a team of six staffers in the new position.
“My goal in this position is to build on the success that Be Spoke has already had since it was launched in June 2011,” he said.
When MSLGroup created Be Spoke, it focused on beauty and luxury, but Millikin said he will help “build and layer on a strong fashion element.” That goal is a main reason the position was created, he said.
Millikin will also oversee day-to-day activities and initiatives for Be Spoke clients. He said the specialty unit has had “fantastic” growth since it launched, citing business wins from Tiffany & Co., Citi, Shiseido, and Neiman Marcus.
While working at Bard College, Millikin was also a freelance PR consultant from October 2005 to January 2012. He also worked as a VP at Formula PR for three years.
