NEW YORK: Ron Guirguis has joined Edelman's New York office as MD of corporate and public affairs.
Guirguis moved to Edelman in late May after working at Fleishman-Hillard for more than 12 years. He took over the position from Justin Blake, who is now overseeing the firm's executive positioning platform, said Edelman global public affairs chair Jere Sullivan. He will oversee a staff of 160 employees.
"His depth of experience in global public affairs and public reputation is a combination that we think is powerful,” said Russell Dubner, president of Edelman's New York office.
Guirguis switched agencies shortly after Fleishman promoted him to deputy GM of its New York office, overseeing its corporate and public affairs group and reporting to Americas President Jack Modzelewski. Previously, he was SVP and senior partner at the firm. Fleishman named Christopher Tennyson head of its New York corporate and public affairs group and Chris Nelson SVP in that unit last month.
Before joining Fleishman in Canada in 1999, Guirguis worked for the Canadian government as an international trade policy adviser and commercial officer with Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada. Before moving to Fleishman's New York office in 2010, Guirguis was MD of public affairs at Fleishman Canada, which is based in Ottawa, Ontario.
Guirguis did not respond to a request seeking comment.
