WASHINGTON: Lane Bailey and AJ Donelson, former executives at GolinHarris and Dewey Square Group, respectively, have launched the Advocom Group public affairs and communications firm.
The firm has offices in Washington, New York, Beijing, and Brussels. Its client roster includes companies in the healthcare, food safety, manufacturing, technology, telecommunications, and financial sectors.
Advocom hopes to connect the dots among public affairs, corporate leadership, and capital markets by creating communications strategies to build brands and grow businesses, the firm said in a statement.
“The way in which companies and groups interact with Washington has changed,” said Bailey, who cited the effect of social media on communications.
Its specific focus areas include communications and media relations, message development and media training, crisis communications, social media strategies and content generation, private capital and capital markets advisory services, and lobbying and government relations.
The firm plans to work with companies in the healthcare, food services, financial services, and technology areas, as well as provide litigation and crisis communications support. Donelson said crisis and litigation support are "ripe areas for the skill sets we bring."
Before working to launch Advocom, Bailey was worldwide director of public affairs at GolinHarris and Donelson was COO and principal at Dewey Square Group. Golin shut down its lobbying business earlier this year. Bailey is the agency's CEO, and Donelson is serving as principal.
The firm has brought on Carolyn Tieger, former managing director of Porter Novelli's Washington office, it said in a statement. Other key hires include Ken Levinson, former senior director of global government affairs at AstraZeneca as senior MD of public affairs and Randi Kahn as VP and media director. Kahn was previously associate VP at Amplify Public Affairs.
