SAN FRANCISCO: MWW Group has hired Steve Mnich as director in its San Francisco office.
Reporting to Ephraim Cohen, EVP of technology and digital content, Mnich will work on digital and traditional media strategy, client counsel for Bay Area companies, and new business and partnership initiatives. He will also work to further establish and grow the firm's San Francisco office and lead MWW Ventures, the agency's start-up unit.
“What we want to do is enable smaller companies, or early stage companies, to have the same access to the brainpower that powers the PR campaigns for larger companies, and help them not only compete in markets but define markets,” Mnich said of MWW Ventures. The independent firm launched MWW Ventures in March.
The position is new. Mnich said he decided to join MWW because the firm emphasizes industry leadership, accountability, and transparency.
“There's a belief throughout the company that we are changing the industry,” Mnich said. “San Francisco and Silicon Valley at large is a market that really needs fresh perspective from the PR industry, and I think we are going to be able to bring it to them.”
Prior to joining MWW, Mnich launched and led the West Coast office of SSPR. He managed corporate communications, media relations, content strategy, business development, and brand marketing at the firm. He previously worked at LaunchSquad.
Mnich is also on the advisory board for the nonprofit Minds Matter San Francisco and is an adviser to The Kairos Society, a network of student leaders focused on entrepreneurship.
