NEW YORK: UK-based Frank PR, which specializes in consumer communications, has entered the US market with a New York office.
Jim Dowd, who most recently served as EVP of national media relations at GolinHarris, will lead the office as MD. Three staffers are working in the New York office.
Dowd said the agency is “looking to hire pretty much monthly as client interest is robust.”
He declined to talk about the firm's client roster in the US due to contract issues, but he said “we will launch with and are already working with several of the top brands in TV, including one of the top networks in TV.”
Dowd, who worked as director of publicity for NBC Universal from November 2001 to October 2005, said Frank's New York office will focus on entertainment, pop culture, consumer products, and consumer technology.
“Hopefully we can find a nice match between [the agency's] UK clients and [its] US counterparts where we can win some business there for the US side,” he explained.
Frank PR's clients in the UK include Southern Comfort, KitKat, and Nickelodeon. The firm also has an office in Australia.
Dowd explained that real-time engagement and marketing is “at the heartbeat” of the agency. The firm is developing a platform to respond to real-world events and media reports, which should launch in the next month.
Before working at Golin, Dowd founded The Dowd Agency in October 2005, which he sold to Middleburg Communications four years later. He also served as manager of publicity at A&E Television Networks and the manager of program publicity at The History Channel.
