NEW YORK: M&C Saatchi PR has hired Beth Garcia as VP to support the agency's growth in New York.
Garcia will work on new business opportunities and manage key accounts including Reebok and Ugg Australia. She reports to SVP Sandra Carreon-John.
Garcia was formerly a VP at the firm Goodman Media International, where she worked with clients in media, entertainment, and healthcare. M&C Saatchi PR hired Garcia because of her experience in media relations and the arts, Carreon-John said.
The agency is looking to expand its work in arts and entertainment, she added. “That's an area of business we'd love to grow, and she's spearheading that charge,” Carreon-John said.
The firm has added Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater to its client roster, working on PR for the launch of the theater's 2012-13 season. Men's apparel brand UNTUCKit also appointed M&C Saatchi PR its AOR.
M&C Saatchi PR is also growing in the technology and digital space, Carreon-John said. Its other specialties include sports, consumer products, social media, and nonprofits.
The firm, a division of advertising agency M&C Saatchi, used to be known in New York as M&C Saatchi Sport and Entertainment, but rebranded to M&C Saatchi PR at the beginning of this year. There are 30 staffers in the New York office and the firm has additional offices in London, England and Sydney, Australia.
M&C Saatchi PR's global clients include Coca-Cola, Spotify, Reebok, and Twitter in the UK.
“I found the company to be very appealing. It has an exciting client list, and its atmosphere is very progressive,” Garcia said.
The agency plans to expand, recruiting new staff members according to client needs, Carreon-John said. "Whenever a client meets with us, they'll find they're dealing with us every day directly,” she added. “We're very hands-on, and that sets us apart.”
