GroupHigh is a blog outreach management platform that indexes more than 10 million blogs daily. Blogs can be searched by keyword, industry, country, state/province, and city. Metrics, which are also available for client-generated blog and contact lists, include PageRank and social media profiles and statistics.
Annual subscriptions start at $5,000.
Joe Shantz, SVP of Porter Novelli's digital analytics team, has been using GroupHigh for about six months.
How do you use it?
It's really easy. You sign into the system and your existing blog lists are in a drop-down menu on the left side of the screen.
You can separate blog lists by clients or campaigns. You can also build a new list by importing your own blog list or by searching GroupHigh's database for new blogs.
You can search for new blogs by keyword, SEO rank, or blog category. A search might return 1,500 blogs. You star the ones you want and GroupHigh moves them to your list and collects metrics for each blog, including Facebook likes, average number of shares, Klout score, unique monthly visitors, inbound links, and average number of posts.
Then we export the list and begin outreach to the bloggers.
There's also a great notes section that shows various information, such as how many people at the agency have contacted a blogger and who last contacted a particular blogger. It's great to see the history and know which bloggers haven't yet been contacted.
If there's a problem, our account reps are really responsive to phone calls and emails. Recently we needed a list very quickly and didn't have access because GroupHigh was updating its system. We called and they made us the list and sent it over within 10 to 15 minutes.
How does it serve your business needs?
Reaching bloggers is critical these days because they're so influential. You ignore them at your own peril.
We have a lot of consumer brand clients that are working dynamically with bloggers. Brands that aren't doing this are losing a big chunk of their customer base because their customers are reading blogs.
In the past, and for a long time, the Internet was viewed as a direct response media channel. Bloggers have completely turned that around. There's so much more brand-building opportunity because of the level of trust that comes from someone who's independent and who consumers can relate to. For example, mothers talking to other mothers who are having the same experiences are much more important from a brand building perspective than an ad or even a paid search result.
GroupHigh provides a basis for talking to clients about developing outreach strategy. Every client has different needs. Some want us to identify most influential bloggers. Others want specific outreach programs. Knowing top bloggers is critical in understanding what kind of strategy we're going to develop.
We have a lot of requests for top 100 bloggers within a specific space. It's great to have a system for finding responsive bloggers – real, active bloggers. It's really helpful to just be able to enter key words and get a list that will provide reach and engagement for our clients.
How does it integrate with your existing infrastructure from and IT standpoint?
What are the main benefits?
The ability to identify top bloggers within a given category and develop a communications strategy around that.
It's easy to use, and customer service is great.
It's a really focused, specific tool. It's not trying to boil the ocean. The narrow focus really benefits the user and GroupHigh.
What are the main drawbacks?
What would you like to see improved / added?
They recently added one of our recommendations. At first we couldn't search by SEO rank, so we emailed asked if they could add that ability. Within two to three weeks it was one of the changes made in a system update. Simple improvements like that really go a long way.
