SCHAUMBURG, IL: The Society of Actuaries, a professional membership organization for the study and assessment of financial risk, has issued an RFP for a PR firm.
The group, which serves actuaries around the world, has invited firms to pitch for the business, said Lisamarie Lukas, director of communications at the organization. She declined to comment further on the agency selection process.
The nonprofit previously worked with GolinHarris after picking it as its PR agency partner in 2007. The following year, it launched a branding campaign to enhance the industry's status and help the general public understand it better. The effort won Corporate Branding Campaign of the Year at the 2008 PRWeek Awards. The goal of the initiative, “Actuaries in Action,” was to increase the depth of those in the profession by gathering actuarial stories and case studies to use at conferences. The group works with Burson-Marsteller.
Earlier this month, the organization released its latest survey, “2011 Risks and Process of Retirement Survey Report,” which included 1,600 participants over the age 45, including 800 retirees. The study found that more than one-third of pre-retirees over age 45 do not think they can retire, with 45% citing a lack of financial resources.
